Simple vector tiles generating

Vector tiles generating is available in MapTiler Desktop starting with the version 10.0. It works in all editions including Free edition.

Rendering of vector tiles is easy. Open MapTiler Desktop, choose Standard Tiles or just drag & drop your data in Shapefile, GPX, PBF, DWG, GeoJSON, KML or any other supported format. You can get sample data here.

If you clicked on Standard Tiles, then drag & drop the image inside of MapTiler Desktop or select your data via a file browser.

Most of the time everything is set automatically in this phase and all you have to do is clicking on the Continue button. However, you may want to change the Coordinate system of inputted vector data or Geographical location (Note: Assigning location visually option is not available for vector tiles).

MapTiler Desktop will automatically prepare output layers for your final tileset, with all of the attributes of your source vector map. You can rename the output layer, edit key=value attributes for the feature or remove them. You can also set minimal and maximal zoom levels for final tiles.

Before rendering, you have to select an output format for your tiles. Folder and MBTiles formats are supported for vector tiles as well as direct upload to cloud services or mobile devices. You can also set Advanced options for your final map.

When rendering is done, you could View the map. If you chose MBTiles output, you can also Upload to cloud or Send to mobile. MBTiles is also a format you can upload to MapTiler Cloud for making designing your map.

There is a built-in viewer which directly visualize rendered data. For better orientation in your data, click on Show OSM which will switch on OpenStreetMap based map underneath.

Now you can publish your data on MapTiler Cloud or any other server; you can also read how to style your vector data and get some advanced tips for generating vector data.
