Any map prepared with MapTiler can be loaded and used offline (without an Internet connection) on iPad or iPhone. You will see your actual GPS position on the top of such map. All you need is MapTiler, Google Drive account and app GeoEditor for MapTiler. You can download it from the MapTiler Mobile page.
Tutorial in steps
1. Process your map in MapTiler
On your computer, turn on the MapTiler and choose Standard tiles. For devices with Retina Display, we strongly recommend checking the HiDPI / Retina tiles option (available in MapTiler Plus / Pro)
Drag and drop the image inside and confirm suggested coordinate system. If the image contains the geographical location, it is picked up automatically. Otherwise, you can assign location visually, define the bounding box or load it from an external file. Georeferencing tutorial shows the Assign location visually option.
On the format, chooser screen choose Mobile device option. This will process your image for mobile devices.
Wait until your map is processed.
In the next step, you will upload your map to Google Drive. Click on Start upload button to start.
The map is ready now, preprocessed and prepared in your Google Drive to load into GeoEditor.
2. Open on the mobile device
On your iPad/iPhone, download GeoEditor for MapTiler from AppStore and Launch MapTiler App by clicking on the icon.
You can see the base layer in the app, now we need to add your layer from Google Drive.
